Sportsman of the Year (SOY)
How it Works:
Each year our members nominate a Sportsman of the Year (SOY), who is then voted on by a committee. We are fortunate to enjoy the amenities of our club, lead and maintained by dedicated members who work hard to continue our over 100-year existence. You must realize that this did not come without a lot of work and commitment from many.
Nominations can be submitted at any time from January, until the October Board meeting. Therefore, we ask you to please consider a nominee, especially if you have never nominated before and even if they have won in the past. If you nominated someone last year and they did not win, feel free to resubmit your nominee. All we need from you is a short bio of their accomplishments, interests, positions held, how they support the club, sporting culture, and any other reason you feel qualifies them for special recognition. A form to help you with providing the necessary information can be found HERE and to the right. Final nominations will be accepted no later than the October Board meeting or, you can email it to Kurt Palmer at: [email protected] If you send an email, please put SOY in the subject line to prevent any inadvertent deletion of your email. The winner will be announced at the November general meeting and submitted to the BCL at that time. Thank you on behalf of the Club and your nominee for taking the time to express thanks! There seems to be a misconception among members about the process involved in nominating the SOY. Many think we try to nominate someone, anyone, who hasn't won before. That is absolutely not true. As members you may think of it that way when you are deciding on a nominee, but nominees can be "any deserving member", even if they have won before. Consideration is given to only those who have been nominated and that part is up to you as a member.
